If I Ran the Zoo

The Challenge
Your challenge is to make a map depicting the ideal world of a historical figure.

The Restrictions
As your entries will not be permitting actual history, but someone's ideal world, ASB is allowed, as is future history. The historical figure whose ideal world you're making must be a real person from OTL - not a historical figure from an alternate timeline or from a future timeline.

You may make a map only of a region or one country in your historical figure's ideal world if you wish.

If you're not sure whether your idea meets the criteria of this challenge, please feel free to PM me.

This round shall finish on Saturday the 10th of March.

!THIS THREAD IS FOR POSTING OF ENTRIES ONLY!

Any discussion must take place in the main thread. If you post anything other than a map entry (or a description accompanying a map entry) in this thread then you will be asked to delete the post. If you refuse to delete the post, post something that is clearly disruptive or malicious, or post spam then you may be disqualified from entering in this round of MotF and you may be reported to the board's moderators.

Mussolini's Dream

Mussolini had quite a lot of ambitions for Italy. Can he fulfill them all? No, no he can't. But he can dream! He can dream of the Mediterranean becoming an Italian lake, he can dream of the middle east and the Balkans in Italian sphere of influence, he can dream of Italian colonies covering great parts of Africa, he can dream of all of Italian irridentism's claims in Europe being fulfilled, he can dream of connecting his East African and North African colonies via the conquest of the Sudan, he can dream of becoming the primary world leader, he can dream of Fascism becoming an acceptable and widespread ideology everywhere, he can dream of an end to French and British power surpassing Italy's own, he can dream of successes in encouraging fascism among Italians in South America, he can dream of a restored Roman Empire, that could make even Trajan himself proud!

One night, startled by a glorious, vivid that came to him in a dream, Heinrich Schnee could not fall back to sleep. Instead, he took it upon himself to do a midnight sketch of the map on a canvas, for he was an artist as well as a statesman. Not stopping there, he began to paint the colors of the map in his dream. At first, he didn't know what they meant, but realized as the painting progressed that they were various forms of administration and states. When he was finished, signed his name and added the Colonial Seal, he realized something; this wasn't just any dream, this was what his administration of Afrika would look like if he ran the zoo.

A sketch of the long term goals of Gamal Abdel Nasser for his United Arab Republic, as told to an secret Mossad agent in
his inner circle, and relayed to Tel Aviv. The time is immediately following the Six Days War, after a promising telephone
conversation with King Hussein of Jordan.

Of course, he had no way to predict the destabilising influence of the fedayeen, or that the Israeli's were close to having a
functioning nuclear deterrent.

A demilitarised, quarantined and probably occupied rump Jewish state is located in the northwestern section of the '47
borders, while the lower portion is promised to the Jordanian Kingdom within the Republic.

As incentives to Iraqi leadership, they are to be promised the full backing of the UAR in reclaiming Kuwait. And a friendly
regime is to be put in place in Saudi Arabia, if at all possible.

At the same time, friendly relations are to be sought with Libya, Turkey and Iran, with formal arrangements on a reasonable
timescale.

Davis' Confederater Empire

From 1861 'til his death in 1888, Jefferson Davis was the lord and master of the C.S.A., for the first years, at war with the U.S., he used inbnnovative new tactics and weapons, when the war was over he quickly took a pick of prime lands, from there, with foorces fully mobilized, he lept straight into Mexico to help the French where when the war was over he was given great rewards. Finally after many years of peace, in 1879, a war with Spain began where he ttok many colonys off of them like Cuba.

Catham's America

In 1775, the two sides sat down and discussed their options. William Pitt the Elder pulled out a plan which kept the Thirteen Colonies in the Empire, and brought them to the fore. Rotten boroughs were abolished and their seats replaced with new American seats. Each province was given a set number of seats to be filled by each province's assembly however they saw fit. In return, provincial autonomy would be retained, new colonies forged in the west, and trade-strangling tarrifs and regulations removed. In return the Americans would pay the same rate of tax as any other Britons.

By 1791, America is treated as very much an extension of Great Britain in the continent of the Americas. Americans mingle across borders and Britons pour in from the mother country, forging the disparate former colonies into a strong federacy within the Kingdom.

This is based on the plans of Józef Piłsudski for the Intermarium, or Międzymorze in Polish, a federation in Eastern Europe to counter the powers of Germany and Russia. Being his dream idea there isn't a specific PoD behind this map, basically the idea for the federation between Poland and other Eastern European countries occurs, there is a war in the 20s against Russia forfilling Piłsudski's other idea, Prometheism, the freeing of the nations under the Russian yoke.

I've wanted to do this map for a while, especially after making a flag some months ago that I didn't manage to work into it.

Map after the break:

Here is Kim Jong-Il's world, upon his death and succession by son Kim Jong-Un. In red is the core of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, with its crown jewel capital of Kim Jong-City (formerly Pyongyang) in yellow. In dark red are the outer, less glorious territories of the One Korea, and in pink are client states of the Empire ... I mean, Republic. As you can see, China, Taiwan, and South Korea have submitted to the might and greatness that is the One Korea, joining together as junior partners in a grand Communist union. Recognizing the supremacy of Kim Jong-Il, the nations of Japan, southeastern Asia, and the Pacific islands have also willingly entered into the Emp-- Republic. Russia, Canada, and the United States have graciously ceded territory to the One Korea, while the remainder of their lands have been vassalized by the all-powerful, benevolent DPRK. Australia, New Zealand, the nations of southern and central Asia, and fellow Communist comrade Cuba have followed their lead, freely conceding their independence to the great and beloved emper-- leader.

Dear Lenin
While I really appreciate the effort you put into building a state based on my theory, I suggest that you read again my book Das Kapital. I CLEARLY stated, that in order to succed the revolution has to happen in an already industrialised country, e.g. France or Germany. It would not work in a rural country. Like Russia. Or China. If you name your ideology marxism-leninism then at least read what I wrote okay?

Sincerly
Karl Marx

In case you havn't noticed yet, this is how Marx would have imagined the communist revolution.
A slightly more diplomatic Wilhelm, managed to keep the USA out of the war, and a surviving Alexander Russia in a better shape. As a result WWI went on for another year culminating in the near simulataneous revolution in Germany, France and Italy (Britain also had a revolution but it was squashed by commonwealth troops - Marx had always postulated colonies as more rural and thus more conseravtive). While in the beginning there was little feeling of brotherhood between the different nations, the brutal crushing of the British revolution and some half-assed attempts by the russians to use the collaps of the German troops to drive west managed to forge a sense of "hanging together or ...".
Twenty years later the communist union of Europe has become a state of unpreceded prosperity and equality, factories are owned by the workers who elect executives to lead the factory. In an effort to transcend nationality, the Union as also embaraced Esperanto as a common language which is now thaught in all schools. (Although Marx died before the publication of Esperanto he argued that one language spoken by all would be necessary to facilitate the formation of a communist international).
The foreign politic of the union is currently split between those who want to activly promote the revolution in other countries (and do so in Africa and Spain) and those who would rather let history run its course (reflecting Marx own uncertainity of whether the first communist state should activly export its ideology or just wait until the other states would "naturally" progress through capitalism to communism).

Mannerheim's version of Suursuomi (Greater Finland) during the Continuation War. The text reads "Fight for victory! Let Greater Finland become a reality!". Large letters is Finnish, small letters is Swedish due to the bilingual situation in Finland.

Kingdom of Arabia

"King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia wished from his childhood of an Islamic kingdom in Arabia that would be a paradise for all Muslims.

The country would be modernized, Islamic, and rich all at the same time. There would be no beggars crowding the streets, electricity throughout the country, and greenery overflowing the Kingdom.

Of course, King Abdullah knew that this was wishful thinking, and that it would never happen, but a king can dream, can't he?"

"A pair of appendix pages from a primary school booklet, created by the University of Vienna for outlying schools within the Habsburg Empire, founded when Charles VI won the War of the Crowns against France and Spain for control of the Iberian throne, unifying all Habsburg domains under his, and his descendents, guiding rule"

Sir Thomas More's theoretical reorganisation of England along Utopic ideals, much like
the original volume itself, is something of a political caprice, and clearly was not thought of
as the ideal expression of said principles within the land of Britain.

Nonetheless, it is still clear that much of More's opinions on politics can be found within the detail of the idea,
particularly in what appears to modern eyes to be the curiously opposing principles of state supplied healthcare and
education at the Parish level, state supplied higher education and open, well stocked libraries at the shire level
and a current of democracy in the form of elected officials and an elected monarchy throughout the realm,
but with many offenses punishable by a form of slavery in which the individual was not only marked from
his peers in a manner similar to that employed in the Third Reich, but banned from migration
beyond the county of his servitude or from the removal or exchange of said symbols on pain of death.

Women, of course, do not appear to have been given much thought by More, and so we cannot tell
much of their role in this society, asides from the fact that each household of 10 people had an elder woman
who was seen as the equivelent head of the females of the family
as the oldest man was to the males.
