True, most features of this patch look great, but I'm not sure about the new dynamic de jure set up, that would depend on how it actually works and if it can be adjusted. I fear it could be too dynamic, whereas others might still find it too static.
Anyway I'll probably use a new install folder for this patch for that reason; I want to try it first. |

Of course its optional. But Steam auto updates it.
I wouldnt be complaining if i could just get around it by not installing. -_-

King Louis VII the Fat is now 64: he has been ruling France, Castille and Aragon for 32 years. He has over 5000 prestige and 1200 piety... And he keeps getting more as the years pass!
My Kingdom has expanded thanks to a huge rebellion in the HRE. I managed to grab Verdun and Yperen from rebelling vassals of the HRE: that's not much compared to the fact for a second 3/4 of the Emperors' vassals had rebelled, but it's still better than nothing. Plus it got the Duchess of Flanders and the Duke of Champagne in my pocket. For those who wonder, I assume it's because the Duke of Upper Lotharingia died that the rebellion against the HRE failed... That or the alliance between HRE and Byzantium against the rebels. News are less rejoicing regarding the succession. Young Prince Louis was murdered at age 12... on the order of his cousin Payen I, Duke of Connacht. I'm not complaining because I will eventually have an extension of my Kingdom when Payen will become King (The Dukedom of Connacht). However, I absolutely HATE the name Payen... That's no King name, damnit! Current line of succession to the French throne: 1. Prince Leonard of France, Spymaster of Connacht - Louis VII's half-brother. In his late 40s. Would be Leonard II if he rules. 2.Payen I, Duke of Connacht - Son of the previous. In his early 20s. Married but no children yet. An asshole but with pretty good stats. His sister is the Queen Consort of Ireland. 3. Onfroy Capet - Payen I's younger brother. 4. Leonard Capet - Onfroy's newly born son. Apart from that, nothing big happened... I will try to annex Britanny soon because it is annoying me. I have a claim on Rennes anyway and I hold two of the six provinces of the Duchy. I'm wondering what the Mongols are doing: the Ilkhanate, the Timurids and the Golden Horde have showed up but none of them has expanded.... They don't even have a county! |

I thought you could disable autoupdating? You can also copy the whole game folder to some other place and play from there.

King Louis VII the Fat died at the age of 75, making the second of my Kings to live this long (after Philippe I the Wise). His successor was his half-brother Leonard II, who ruled only 5 years (my shortest reign so far) before dying (shortest reign I've ever had). Thus, the new King of France, Castille and Aragon is Onfroy I. With this, the whole Dukedom of Connacht is now part of the French Kingdom.
Those who have followed my AAR probably know I was expecting Duke Payen I of Connacht (Onfroy's older brother) to become King of France at one point... However, Karma avenged the muder of Prince Louis where Payen had a hand: the latter fell ill and died with only a daughter (Sybille). Thus, Onfroy suceeded him both as Duke of Connahct and as heir to the French throne. Onfroy has an horrible name but I won't complain because he has pretty good stats (If memory serves me right, he has 27/16/14/12/15 or something like that) and he brought me a new Dukedom. My Kingdom has also expanded a bit: I have seized Soria from the Muslim for my vassal the Duke of Castille. I also happened to have seized Rennes from Britanny and I have usurped the title of Duke of Britanny. Now, all I have to do is finish off the conquest of Britanny. Of course, this will have to wait for me to make sure that the transition from Leonard II's death to Onfroy I's coronation goes smoothly. First thing of importance: marry Leonard, the new heir to the French crown. Regarding worldwide events, the Shiite Caliphate has now expanded in Illyria and Carinthia. And England and Scotland are now in personnal Union under Edmund I, from the House of Godwin. |

I haven't had this game for long, so I took the advice of many and decided to unite Ireland from 1066 under the Munsterian house of Ua Briann.
My first few monarchs were truly totalitarian - ramping up state and monarchical authority, increasing the realm's economical capability, and advocating forceful expansion by warfare. By 1160, the Kingdom of Ireland had been formed and by 1400, Ireland was a major European power with the crowns of Scotland, Wales, Brittany and Sweden (!). I'm enjoying the game, but find it a little samey. Having just started my third game with Georgia, I've becoming a little fatigued with the actions of the HRE and the Muslims; the former has almost always marched through France through the seemingly-omnipresent Caliph which has reached as far north as Flanders. Despite this, I'm convinced from viewing other poster's comments that this is partly due to luck, and won't let it destroy my enjoyment of this game. I do enjoy the managing of the personal aspects of my dynasty and marriages. A decent game, then. After my Caucasian Empire game is done, I'll either create a Norwegian superpower, a unified Spain, or even a continental Norman dynasty. |

I'm having fun with my Polish game (slowly conquering all of Eastern Europe), but I think I'm going to try a game as the Holy Roman Empire. I'll see if I can turn the entire empire Cathar.

Succession was rough... Onfroy I of France died after six years of reign, leaving the throne to his son Leonard III. I've had to stabilize the Kingdom by making concessions: I most notably had to lower Crown Authority to minimum (I was originally at medium), had to lower City Taxes before reraising them and the many efforts I had to pull emptied my coffers: I even had negative gold (It was only -12 but still) for something like two weeks of in-game time. I also had to give up some lands to avoid some vassals rebelling: I even made myself a good friend of the now Duke Manassès I of Anjou by giving him both the Duchy of Anjou and the County of Maine.
Leonard III has proven quite a good King and he has got better. He has earned himself the nickname "the Saint" because I managed to complete the objective of granting him 500 piety. He did impress me with something else though: after his wife gave him two children, she got the trait chastity (-1000% fertility). And yet Leonard got her pregnant: the result was a son named Philippe ![]() Succession also seems well assured. My current heir is Leonard's eldest son, Philippe: his father, Gauthier, died at 22 from an illness. Gauthier being an homosexual, I am not really disappointed about his death: not that I'm homophobic but last time I played an homosexual King in CKII (The second one I played, Richard the Drunkard) I had a hard time. Current objectives: -Finish conquering Britanny: all that is left are the counties of Vannes and Cornouailles. -Add Ireland to my Empire: I have control of the Duchy of Connacht and the County of Dublin. Given the small size of Ireland, it shouldn't really be a problem to conquer other Counties. -Restore Medium Crown Authority. Secondary objectives: -Expand eastward by claiming lands in the HRE, most notably the Crown of Burgundy. Going to be hard since my current tactic is to wait for a vassal to rebel and press claims on my Eastern border... All that to avoid fighting the whole HRE army. -Take Valladolid from the HRE. Suffers from the same drawbacks as the above objective. Reason for this is that the Dukedom of Castille has now an Elective Succession and the Count of Valladolid has a vote and is a candidate. I doubt he could get the Duchy of Castille, but I won't take the risk. -Maybe a conquest of Wales but I find it risky considering England and Scotland are united under the same King. In other news, the Shiite Caliphate hold most of the Eastern Adriatic Coast. I'm starting to wonder if it won't end up as an ATL Ottoman Empire if this keeps up... And I also think that the map is pretty much divided between Empires or huge Kingdoms: -Iberia is now split between the Emirate of Porto (Galicia and Portugal without the Algarves), the Emirate of Valencia (the De Jure Dukedom of the same name), Mauretania (Southern Iberia), the HRE (Central Spain) and France (Iberia North of the Ebro River) -Because England and Scotland are ruled by the same King, Britain is pretty much unified. Only two Scottish counties (one held by the HRE via Norway in the North, the other belonging to the King of Bretonia), the Duchy of Sommerset and the Duchy of Deuheubarth (Welsh) are independent. As for Ireland, it's unified except for Connacht and Dublin which belong to France. -Sweden and Denmark are under a Personnal Union. Norway owns the rest of Scandinavia and since it's a vassal of the HRE, you get how huge the HRE is. -Eastern Europe is pretty much divided between Poland (Poland, Hungary, the Baltic Countries and Northern Russia), the Kingdom of Rus (Most of Medival Russia) and the Coumans. Oddly enough, the Mongols have done nothingh yet... -North Africa is divided between Mauretania (the Maghreb) and the Shiite Caliphate (Egypte and Lybia). -The Middle East is pretty much divided between the Seljuks, the Sunni Caliphate and the Shiite Caliphate. |

Well, here are the screenshot of my gameplay as of May 13, 1300. A few things have changed since the last time I posted: I finished the conquest of Britanny and the Mega Poland I mentionned has imploded due to civil war. I apologize for the size of the images as well as the number I'll be using in that Post.
![]() So here is the politcal map of Europe I mentionned. The State mentionned as Crimea corresponds mostly to the lands held by the Teutonic Knights. The new Grand Master of the order is Count or Duke of Crimea. Apart from this particular thing, you can see Europe isn't much divided compared to the start of the game in 1066. ![]() Map of the Middle East and North Africa. The Game apparently loves pretty big blocks: look at the huge number of them on both maps. The oddest thing? The Mongols have yet to form an Empire... ![]() The Religious Map of Europe. Tengri believers are the only Pagans left. Most of Europe is Catholic as Orthodoxy seems to encoutering difficulties. Also notice Shiite Illyria and Greece (Shi'a Caliphate) as well as Sunni Ionia (Seljuk Turks). ![]() Here is the cultural Outlook of Europe. Spain is increasingly being divided between Andalousian, Frankish and Germanic Culture while the other are disappearing. Dutch and Normand have practically disappeared. ![]() And finally, the dynastic map of Europe. I'll let you judge of what you find odd in that picture... Now that we have finished with Europe, let's have a closer look at my Kindgom of France, Castille, Aragon and (thanks to the new patch) Aquitaine. ![]() The map in the Center shows all direct vassals of the various Kingdoms, Duchies, etc... The red outline are the borders of the Kingdom of France while the purple outline are the borders of my personnal domain which is currently quite small because I only have 6/10 counties I could control. As you can see, the way my vassals have arranged themselves is rather... messy. I chose also to show up the extent of my armies because I'm quite proud of that: it's not exceptionnal, but I just can't help but smile at seeing that I could raise up to 70k troops if I wished .On the left is a list of the various Kings I have played with their ruling dates. The names are very odd, especially for Capetians, but I had no control on how my heirs named their children... Only of the children of my King. And now, I will present you the bloodline of the Kings of France that I have played in more details. ![]() Philip I the Wise was the first King I ever played. He started merely as the fourteen year old King of France, Count of Paris and Orléans. After 61 years of rule, he had managed to acquire the Duchies of Barcelona, Normandy, Valois, Navarra and Anjou as well as the Counties of Maine, Urgell, Empuries, Navarra and Najéra. If you had the effects of the various traits he had, you'll see that his final stats were 12/7/9/4/18. Among his children were two sons: the second has begun the line of the Barons of Calw, a baronny of the HRE. The eldest was Henry of Rouen which I never played as he died before his father. I'm thankfull though because while his portrait looks badass, he certainly wans't: his final stats were of 9/8/5/3/2 which is horrible. Henri had three sons, the third of which began the line of the Capetian Dukes of Barcelona. The eldest son was Richard the Drunkard. He was an odd fellow as he had Nine children despite being Homosexual. Even if he had four wives, this still doesn't really explain to me how the hell he got so much kids. His final stats were 14/11/8/3/13 but he had to concede the Duchies of Barcelona and Normandy as well as the County of Najéra. After him, the County of Maine was often transmitted to the eldest son and heir. Richard died of smallpox, hence the look of his portrait. ![]() Following Richard was his son Guilhèm I (19/8/12/6/24), a quite virtuous man (5 of the 7 virtues) but who ended up mutilated after a hunt and died of the wound's infection. Guilhèm was able to acquire the Kingdom of Castille, the Duchy of Castilla, and to retake the county of Najéra. Guilhèm had two sons: the second one became Richard II, Duke of Navarra. The eldest was Leonard the Great (16/17/15/7/15) who earned his nickname at a young age. Unfortunately, like his father, he was mutilated during a hunt and the wound infected... He died at 38, making him the King that died the youngest of all those I played. Guilhèm gave up the Dukedom of Castilla and the County of Najéra but he also annexed Biscaye. He had three sons, but I can't remember what did the third. The only one I remember is Guilhèm of Aragon who was an asshole: five or six times imprisonned. Guilhèm of Aragon's imprisonments were the result of him rebelling against his older brother, Louis VI the Drunkard (14/8/8/12/7). Louis was a more competent King than he looks like because of his stats: he is actually the second of my Kings to have lived up to 75 and his final stats are low because he was infirm in his late life (he thus had a -3 malus everywhere). He added to his possessions the Kingdom of Aragon as well as the Duchy of Flanders, the Counties of Alto Aragon, Léon and Penthevière. But he lost the Duchy of Navarra as well as the Counties of Maine, Rouen, Empuries, Biscaye and Navarra. ![]() Louis VI's two sons became King eventually. The edlest was Louis VII the Fat (16/13/8/9/11) who did father a son. However, said son, Louis (3/6/6/5/5), was murdered at 12 on the order of his cousin Payen I, Duke of Connacht. Louis VII lost the Duchy of Flanders but annexed the Counties of Maine and Rennes to the Royal Dosmaine. He is also the second of my King in terms of reign length as he ruled 42 years. ![]() Louis VI's second son was Leonard II (22/7/11/22/13) who only ruled 5 years, making him my King who ruled for the shortest time. He had originally been married to the Duchess of Connacht because I had planned to try putting Capetians on several European thrones. Léonard II managed to become Duke of Britanny before he died. Stress and Syphilys (I don't know how he caught it) are probably the reason behind his death. Léonard II's eldest son was Payen I, Duke of Connacht (18/4/8/16/11) who died at 27 of illness. Payen was Duke of Connacht and Meath, as well as Count of Dulin and Connacht. Most of all, he was a known kinslayer as he had ordered the assassination of Louis, son of Louis VII. So, in the end, the illness that killed him was just pure Karma. The successor to both Léonard II of France and Payen I of Connacht was thus the first's second son: Onfroy I (25/13/16/15/12), probably my best King in terms of stats. If only he hadn't been stressed and hadn't fallen ill... Damn it: he only ruled six years. He had to give up the Duchies of Connacht, Meath and Anjou as well as the County of Maine because his domain was too vast in his life. ![]() And that's how we ended up with our current King: Léonard III the Holy, son of Onfroy I, King of France, Castille, Aragon and Aquitaine, Duke of Valois and Britanny, Count of Paris, Orléans, Penthevière, Rennes, Connacht and Dublin. The Chuch adores him (The Pope has +100 opinion of him) and me too. For some reason I can't explain though, his portrait makes me think of Cardinal Richelieu... Maybe the mustache and the beard? I've added the portrait of his queen (Princess Ilsa of the HRE) and his council to explain his state statistics. On a side note, you can say yeah to multiculturalism: the Chancellor is of German origin, the Steward is a Hungarian coming from Sweden (don't ask...) and the Spymaster is a Pole ![]() ![]() And here is the man that should have been the heir to the throne had he not died at 23: Gauthier Capet, Count of Alto Aragon, Prince of France and eldest son of Léonard III. He had 10/21/15/10/6 in terms of statistics before he died from his wound. At least, he left behind a son who is my current heir. ![]() Here is the current line of succession to the French throne: Philippe, son of the deceased Gauthier of France, his uncle and namesake Count Philippe of Léon and his cousin Othon, current only son of Philippe of Léon. Well, I've summed up all of my playthrough with these screenshot I think... Once again, I apologize for the size of these images: I'll try to make them smaller if I can. ![]() |

Playing as Heinrich XII/I 'the Lion' Welf, and the Kingdom of Bavaria in an MP game. Being amused by names such as Welf, Son of Welf, of House Welf.
![]() Pretty good game so far. Started in 1170. Im now King of Bavaria. Inherited about half of the HRE territories in Italy. The title of Duke of Brunswick was stolen from me, but i control the territories on the ground, so screw the emperor. Gained a few provinces by pushing de jure kingdom and ducal claims. Im also Steward and Regent. The Kingdom of Bavaria spans from the North Sea, with the traditional lands of Saxony, to Bavaria and the Alps then all the way into central Italy. So disregarding the child Emperor himself, im the most powerful man in the Holy Roman Empire. So of course the best way to utilize this power is to declare myself a free and independent Kingdom. :3 As for the new patch i like the new kingdoms. Also like the reworked Crusade system. So far ive seen a Bulgaria carved out during the Pecheneg Crusade and ruled by a Welsh Duke. Who promptly lost his Duchy in Wales and was sent into exile. Funnily enough this is one of the crusades which actually HELPED the Byzantines (who were able to gain a lot of territories at the expense of the Pechenegs and gain a Catholic Bulgarian buffer state against the Pagans).

Since I'm lazy, what's this mod all about or can you send me a link to it's page? From the title I'm guessing it's Scandinavian related?
