AHC: Have an internal armed conflict in Canada

with a POD of 1867 or after, make a prolonged (lasting at least a year) civil war/uprising/revolt/revolution etc. happen in Canada.

Super duper "OH MY GOD THIS IS HARD!" mode: Make it happen somewhere other than Quebec.

For a cool but not terribly likely scenario, could something be done with the Canadian Fenians?

Interesting factoid is that William O'Donoghue was one of Louis Riel's associates in the Provisional Government in the Red River settlement. After he broke with Riel, O'Donoghue joined the Fenians and led a small raid on Manitoba.

The Metis stopped the raid and arrested O'Donoghue eventually turning him over to US authorities but it raises the possibility of some changes from OTL leading to some Fenian involvement with Riel.
