The Republic of Texas survivied for 10 years, and California for 10 days. Is it possible that the former Mexican/Spanish territories north of the Rio Grande coalesce into their own federation/country?

The best way for it to happen would be for the provincias internas (which also included some states south of the Rio Grande) to have an early population boom; they almost became their own viceroyalty during the Bourbon reforms, but their income and population were too low. As a separate crown, chances are they'd revolt in bulk.
