I vote for the Indomitables, since my challenge seems to be outshadowed. Oh, well maybe next one?

I like it as well, actually. Next challenge, hopefully.

I have a terrible feeling I've made some sort of mistake when posting these new threads, due to being fairly tired. Hopefully, if there is such a mishap, one of you fine and pedantic fellows will point it out to me!

Hullo there!

I was just wondering how many of you fellows are planning on entering in MotF 58? I'm planning to enter later this week, but we haven't had any entries thus far so I just wanted to make sure that we will get enough entries this round.

I am trying to figure out what to do with my idea. It isn't coming along very well and would seem to have rather little to do with the premise at this point in time.

I have one started, but I haven't gotten very far with it and I'm going to be pretty busy for the rest of the week.

I'm nearly finished with a OK-ish map, to be honest the contest is pretty hard to pin down. Still, that's the challenge.

I would also note a lot of people at school/university would be getting into revision now (I know I am/should be), so time might be a factor. Saying that I do like The Indomitables but I really doubt I will be able to enter next time due to the above .

I have an idea, but I have a term paper due so I'm not sure I have the time for it this week. I would approve of an extension.

Sounds pretty fair to me. It did start a bit later than normal anyways.

Hmm, it does seem like there are a number of people who could make maps, but are busy all this week. It's also the case that we haven't chosen a challenge for MotF 59 yet, despite the fact that it should start on Sunday.

Alright, who here would probably be able to enter if I extended this contest round by a week?

I expect I'd be able to.

Since this week was rather busy for lots of people (and we haven't gotten any entries as a result) I'll extend the deadline for a week. You had better make some great maps to show your gratitude, or you might enrage the Map God!

Well, I've got most of my blurb written--now I just need to do the map that goes with it.

On an unrelated note, what do people favor for the next challenge?

(Also, don't we have a pending Map Duel? Iserlohn, how are your exams coming?)

In the Footsteps of Illustrious Men
Show the world at least ten years after a famous, world-changing, person died. Future is OK, ASB no. The famous person has to be ATL, but they can be OTL if they went a different way.

Watch out for Martin now.

I've got most of my map done, I just need to add effects and write a description for it. It'll probably be done in the next couple of days - I can only hope we aren't the only two entrants!

Both poignant and important questions!

On the latter point, Iserlohn said it would be best if the Duel starts on the 15th of May or later, so we'll have to wait until then at least. I do need to find/think of a good challenge for you both to do; I'll try and have one ready for the 15th.

On the former point, we do need to decide on a subject for MotF 59! I'll have a look back through the thread and grab a few I liked and/or were popular - the rest of you should feel free to suggest and nominate the challenge suggestions you like!

To be fair, it was always the second most popular, so this might be its challenge, since there is no other competition.

It don't mean it's not valid advice though .

I still have about 3/4 finished map I was working on before the exam season started, if I have time tomorrow I'll try to put the finishing touches on it.

The Indomitables was a favourite of mine.
Not a huge fan of In the Footsteps but the cynical side of me is saying I should campaign for a contests I don't like for the weeks I'll be most likely unable to enter .

Some other previous ideas I like;

The Indomitables: Make a map showing a state which has managed to retain its independence in a region being divided between colonial powers, or how the state's independence affects the broader geopolitical situation. (OTL examples would be Ethiopia, Thailand, Japan, etc.)

The Miracle: Make a map showing a country that achieved an "economic miracle" - like Germany or Japan post-WWII - that did not in OTL, or in a manner different to how it did in OTL.

The Locked Country: Make a map showing a country which has cut itself off from the rest of the world, similar to feudal Japan under the doctrine of Sakoku, or North Korea in more recent times. The map may be from the perspective of outside observers - either showing what they know about the country or speculating as to its internal structure - or it may be a map of the country from its own perspective.

And the two ideas I had;

The Anywhere Spring: Make two maps, one showing a localized armed uprising against a government and the other showing the localized remnants of that government after the rebels have overthrown it.

Air, Fire, Earth, Water: Make a map showing the effects of an alternate history natural disaster.
...Shamelessly quoting myself.

The Indomitables seems to be well liked and I'll bring Air, Fire, Earth, Water up again since Kaiphranos at least seemed to like (Totally incidental that it's also the one I suggested ).
