The House of Rothschild as the Israeli monarchy?

WI the State of Israel chose to become a crowned constitutional republic, with a hereditary post like "Lord Protector" or "Stadtholder" or whatever you like as head of state (call it anything but king), which would have the same position as the President of Israel in OTL? They select the House of Rothschild to fill this post and be the ruling dynasty, the most preferable candidates would be the prominent Zionists in the family, Edmond James de Rothschild from the French branch of the family and Baron Walter Rothschild from the British branch. But by 1948, they are both dead so maybe Edmond's son James Armand de Rothschild, who donated the Knesset building, could reign as the first "Stadtholder of Israel".

Conspiracy theorist's heads explode. Dan Brown writes another book about symbology and the secret Zionist cabal and its links to the Israeli Royal Family.

I'd say Nasi would be what they're called.

any ways, early Israel was VERY left wing, almost communist without a major POD in the moment in the 1890s to get a monarch in Israel, also in 1948 Israel needs friends, in the West republics are seen the best from of government by most of the West (even in monarchies: "it works for us but we're lucky") also there is a need to get the USA on board and can you think what a jewish Monarchy in the holy land would do to born again/evangelical minds?

Israel would still be a republic just a crowned one like the Dutch and Venetian republics. The framework of its government is also a constitutional monarchy like in the UK and a parliamentary democracy almost like in OTL except with the hereditary "Nasi" as the apolitical, ceremonial head of state rather than a President. And I do understand what an Israeli monarchy would do to Evangelicals but back in the 40's and 50's they weren't a major political force in America, unlike today where they play a major role in maintaining the "special relationship" between the US and Israel.

You still have to deal with the fact that the founders of the state of Israel were almost universely left-wing, militant Labor Zionists. Israel, until 1978, was for all intents and purposes a socialist state. Economically, it would have fit right in with the Eastern Bloc economies. Labor Zionists, and the socialist left in general, is pretty strongly anti-monarchical, no matter what trappings it tries to cover itself with.

while I agree that the special relationship pre-1980s had less to do with Evangelicals in the USA, however I'd say that Evangelicals in USA were a major force (not as big as now but still) in the 1940s and 1950s.

Given the strong socialist element in the early Zionist movement a form of Hereditary Ruler seems a stretch doesn’t it?

Or opens the way to an early Israeli Civil War.
