Presidio mine, Shafter District, Presidio Co., Texas, 1881 ->1841

OTL this Mine operated from the early 1880's till the mid 1940's. It produced some 73% of all Silver, and 50% of all Gold Mined in Texas.
So WI ?It had been discovered in 1841, instead of 1881?
almost all gold mined as early as 1841 was native gold, usually placer gold in alluvial deposits.

Would a mine that needed refining to get the gold out work as a gold mine in that time? Or would the gold be thrown out in the tailings as they process the lead and silver?

Assuming the tech questions can be worked out, some in Mexico's elites would see the value in using the wealth to build the Mexican nation. Unfortunately this is at the worst possible time. There are three different presidents in 1841, none of them competent, and two of them are glory seeking generals.

Plus Texas claims this territory. It'd be very tempting for the US to intervene earlier than IOTL. Perhaps filibusters. Plus the US has three pres in that year. The last, Tyler, is an aggressive expansionist. Plus he'll face a failed impeachment next year. Pretty messy.
