Benedict Arnold dies at Saratoga

During the last part of the Battle of Saratoga, Arnold, on horseback, leads a charge on the Breymann Redoubt on the right flank of the British fortifications. During the charge, He is shot in the chest (instead of his previously wounded leg in OTL). This rallys his men to push forward and win the day.

What happens now? Will Arnold be remembered in American history as one of its greatest heroes and generals?

Yes, Arthur is now a War Hero (TM). Probably gets a city named after him somewhere in the Midwest, maybe a few if he dies heroicly enough. If his last words are any good, they may become the motto of some US unit in the present.

Very straightforward. Arnold becomes an everlasting war hero. He joins the pantheon of Independency heroes like Washington and Lafayette. Any controversy at all would likely arise from the rivalry with Ethan Allen over the capture of Fort Ticonderoga.

Like many others here have said, in TTL Benedict Arnold is remembered as a great hero of The Revolutionary War, has cities, or towns, and monuments named for him.

I cannot see this changing the outcome of The Revolutionary War. America still wins pretty much as we did in OTL.

West Point is more commonly referred to as Fort Arnold these days, the bronze statue of him on his rearing horse is famous throughout the country.
