Yes...

The southern border between part of Burma and Thailand is there in all of the maps, but the northern part isn't...

As far as I'm aware, Tenasserim hasn't changed size since the British annexed it from Burma in 1826, therefore it should be the same size on all of the maps from the end of the Third Anglo-Burmese war (1885) to the present day...

You are right about Tenasserim, and how it is/should be depicted on the maps. I have noticed as well, that it didn't look right in some of the maps, another one that is annoying is the way the border between the German and British parts of modern Papua New Guinea isn't correct, for it extends too far to the SE, almost to the end of the island. So's there won't be any more sniping over the inaccuracy of the maps, I will give it a shot and go thru the maps, and fix the errors myself. Stay tuned.

Here is the first corrected (hopefully) world map. The world as of 1 September, 2008. Look closely it includes an independent Kosovo, as well as Russian occupied Abkhazia, and South Ossetia.

Here's a fixed version of the world as of 25 December, 1991. I have drawn in the borders for the Bantustans (black homelands), to show that they were independent from SA, but kept in the SA color to show that they were not internationally recognized, and drawn the border between SA, and SWA (Namibia), to show that it was not part of SA proper, and left the color in to show that it was under SA administration. Removed Portugese East Timor, to show that it was part of Indonesia. Also drawn in Slovenia, Croatia, and Macedonia. Crap forgot to remove the colors from Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

Fixed map of the world as of 3 October, 1990. I have removed the red from Mongolia, Laos, Vietnam, and North Korea, to show that they were not really dominated by the USSR at this stage, given that the USSR at this time was in a state of teminal decline. Removed the pink from Cambodia, due to it not having a Chinese backed communist government at this point in time. Removed the USA grey-green from South Korea because it wasn't technically under US occupation, despite having US troops stationed along its border w/ North Korea, which is still the same state of affairs to this day. I have also redrawn the borders back in between Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

Take a gander at my fixed maps, I have addressed the East Timor problem on the 1990, and 1991 world maps, as well as a few others. More to come soon.
Whoopsie, it appears that the post I was responding to has disappeared.

It appears some of the colors tend to darken and lighten periodically. This is particularly noticable with Turkey, whose color at times is very close to black.

On a more intractable note, I strongly disagree with the use of the Babylon color for Iraq.

Whoever assigned that color for Iraq, and other color problems, you need to take that up w/ him/her. I am just trying to fix border errors.

Good fixes. Here's a couple of things missing though for the December 25, 1991 map:

1. The map should include South Ossetia as a breakaway republic in Georgia but not Abkhazia (which would be embroiled in conflict in 1992 instead). South Ossetia's conflict had started in before the USSR dissolved.

2. Nargorno-Karabakh might need to be shown since there before the USSR dissolved, that entity had been seeking to leave Azerbaijan, either by joining Armenia (a vote for that was done before December 1991) or as a independent state.

3. Somaliland should be shown as a breakaway region (it had declared independence in May 1991)

4. Transnistria should be shown as as a breakaway area in Moldova/Moldavia since 1990.

5. The SADR controlled region east of the Morroccan Berm should probably be shown.

6. The breakaway Serbian areas in Croatia should be shown, i.e. Krajina (including Eastern Slavonia).

7. Eritrea should be shown as a breakaway region in Ethiopia since by December 1991 the area was under the control of Eritrean rebels after the fall of the Ethiopian government to Ethiopian and Eritrean rebels in May 1991.

Other than that, all the maps after 1975 are incorrect in depicting Cambodia as being allied with the People's Republic of China, since Vietnam overthrew the pro-PRC government of Pol Pot and set up a pro-Vietnamese (and thus pro-Soviet) government. So the 1989 map at least would need to change.

In regards to Cambodia, I have fixed that problem, as well as Vietnam, Laos, and North Korea, considering that the USSR was in a terminal state of decline, and was no longer able to dominate most of Eurasia outside of China. As for other polities that need to be shown on the maps, some may already be marked (need to check and fix as needed, and repost), and besides at the scale of the maps, its gonna be tough, especially depicting very tiny areas like Serbian Krajina, and Serbian Eastern Slavonia accurately due to limits of resolution imposed by pixel size. BTW, I will be working my way thru the map series on this thread, gradually, as I am currently working on other maps, including my BAM world.

I like all the disputed borders.

South Korea still has a hint of America at the bottom that needs deleting.

What's with the "%25021" (or something like that) in the filenames?

Roberto - I believe I must inform you that you are interpreting the Key in a way that was deemed heretical by the Cult of the OTL map. You have:
1) Given Babylon/Assyria/whatever's colour to Iraq;
2) Given Carthage's colour to Tunisia; and
3) For some reason given South Africa a colour.

These are against the One Key and must be rectified.
