This would be the wrong thread then, this thread is only for UCS maps, you'll want to check the Blank Map Thread and The New Our TimeLine Map Thread.

And yes, they are, most people don't learn Roman Numerals beyond 10, and even then no one uses them.

Apart from 1-10, usually as part of History, no, their's simply no point in learning them given they're only useful to a specific group of people and, in America atleast, the only time they're ever used publically is for the Super Bowl (which they go out of their way to actually say the number of).

I understand binary better than I understand roman numerals.

I did this more for my own use (I got tired of it taking forever to re-color and fix borders), but I figure I might as well post it.

The below shows the Internal Divisions of the worlds Federation's.

Please note that it includes the proposed state of Telangana in India.

I don't know. This is an Alternate History forum, and France feature's heavily, and the regnal numbers are usually Roman Numerals. Most people would recognise Louis XVI as Louis the Sixteenth I should think.

I recognize it as Louis with random letters after it.

Well isn't it that people would recognize the French monarchs that crop up the most in ATLs? After all Louis XVI is highly recognizable because he was the French king around the time of the American Revolution and the French Revolution and was beheaded via guillotine. The XVI in "Louis XVI" is recognizable by long association (rather like the "VIII" in "Henry VIII") and not necessarily because people have little trouble with Roman numerals.

How many people instantly recognize Louis XVIII for instance?

Plus few French monarchs ended up with regnal numbers higher than X anyway (and those that do are all named "Louis"). Only Louis XI, Louis XII, Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Louis XVII (but he never reigned) and Louis XVIII. So 8 French monarchs out of more than 30 which bore the title "King of France" or "King of the French" and a further 18 who could be considered as monarchs of "France" up until 843 (but at the time they were "King of the Franks") and more than a dozen monarchs before 843 AD who might be considered monarch of France.

English is a Germanic language, though it's been influenced by, and borrowed from so many different languages it might as well be a seperate language group itself.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It leads them down dark allies and beats them for loose prepositions

It's a paraphrase of a quote from a writer called Nicoll.
