jake's portrayal, as well as most of the other characters from the series, was ok, but left something to be desired. they basically kept saying the same thing over and over agian in different situations. It felt like a game of scene swap where the dialouge remains pretty much the same.

Actually it was the cover of "In at the Death" but I digress

But seriously a badass cover can make someone interesed enough to search for hours looking for the book because they couldnt remember the name or title and had to go on wikipedia search through altrnate history pages remember the author had a strange name that started with a "T" and search through the list of books.
Then I was hooked....
And mildly depressed after reading the sypnosis of the series

in all fairness, Potter and Colleton both said they were Confederate patriots. They admitted that Featherston was a bad influence, but they cared more about their country then who was actually running it, and realized that Jake was honestly the only guy that could continue the drive against the USA with such energy. As we saw Donald Partiridge couldn't do sh*t and even had Willy Knight's assassination attempt worked, and he became President (though I bet the Attorney General would have arranged his own accident) he wouldn't have had the energy to drive his country against the USA.

I thought Knight had the energy/drive of Featherston, and that's why Jake worried about his ambition so much.

No I think jake was more worried about just that, Knight's ambition. Unlike Partridge who was willing to take the job and the free paycheque it gave him, along with occassionally giving a speech on hos good Jake was, I honestly believe Jake Featherston was the only one who could begin, and fight a war against the US. Knight I don't think was able to see the big picture like Jake could, though obviously, we'll never know now.

Shortley before his death Sams brother tells him he will raise funds to find a cure for cancer. A wide varity of fundraisers are held accrossed the country. Science makes progress toward the treatment and prevention of cancer. They are an analog of Mary A. and Susan G. Korman.
