Elizabeth Woodville as Regent

King Edward IV of England died April 9, 1483.
His eldest son became King Edward V.
Edward V came to the throne at age 12.
Could his mother, Queen Elizabeth Woodville have been the Regent?

You'd have to get rid of Richard first or have Edward IV directly appoint his wife as regent.

Well given that Richard moved against the Woodvilles almost as soon as he was appointed, to ensure the disunity of the Woodvilles, you would need for Edward IV to name his wife in his will as regent for Edward V. Then you would need the Woodvilles to very quickly consolidate their control of the throne in order to stop Richard and Buckingham from joining their forces and marching on London. I imagine it would also mean the Woodvilles keeping Margret Beaufort out of the fray.

If Elizabeth Woodville is regent, then who would Edward V marry? And Elizabeth of York for that matter. With the throne secure in the hands of the Yorkists, the Lancastrians cannot unite the Houses under Henry and Elizabeth

The Duchess of Brittany, she's betrothed to Edward V.

Why don't you have EIV appoint his brother-in-law Anthony Woodville Regent? He's EW's brother. I don't see EW flying as Regent in England after the end of the Hundred Year's War and with memories of Margaret of Anjou still fresh. Unlike the French the English have no strong tradition of the Queen Mother taking a role in her son's minority.

No tradition of a Queen Mother acting as regent in England and zero evidence that Elizabeth Woodville actually attempted to have herself installed in that role.

Edward IV's will is a matter of dispute as chunks of it do not survive including the alleged codicil appoint Richard of Gloucester as Protector (in fact no mention of it until after Richard had seized power.)

Edward IV had allowed his brother in law Lord Rivers - who was well regarded to remain Governor of his son.

Effectively the country could have been governed by his surviving council which is what they seemed to be planning until Richard seized the King removed Lord Rivers and arrived in London.

Elizabeth used her considerable influence over Edward IV to obtain favors and promotion for important posts in the Queen's household.
Perhaps Queen Elizabeth persuades Edward to name her and her brother Anthony as co-regents.
