Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrelll-novel

Picked this book up Sunday. It's by someone named Clarke. Deals with England at the time of Napoleon. It is AH and a good one. Involves magic like the stones of a Cathedral at York talking.Apparently magic exists but is not practiced much.Try it.It's a long book. Got it for 30 percent off at Borders.

Only read an extract and it looked bloody awful. I'll stick to THE ANUBIS GATES.

Read ANUBIS Gate. BAD. I DO NOt like Powers or David Drake or S.M.Stirling with their books. a Lot of people have been suckered in to like these books.ANubis Gates IMO hops around too much. Drake and Stirling stuff is too derivative. Pournelle and Niven are better.
