Do you have the Natives on your side?

My nephew forced me to play Togo in 2003 on the Steppe Wolf mod. Bugs where quickly obvious, as various areas reverted to wilderness. I was using Khazar infantry, because that was the best available... In 2005, WW3 broke out with Sweden, France, Gabon, and Portugal vs everyone from Spain to China. Most of the French colonies where quickly taken by various powers, notably Brazil. France was eating it's way through Spain while Germany and Russia where occupying Northern France. It was a glorious mess. Unfortunately, I crashed in 2006. In those 3 years, Benin had split into Benin and Benin. I had annexed Benin and allied myself to Benin, and had also released Oyo.

It was actually really good fun. My main complaint, ironically, was that Togo wasn't Songhai cultured .

EU3 is on sale on steam, since there is a thread about it on here I am just wondering should I buy it or get EU2 heard stories that that one is better then 3.

What is that? One of those awesome mod mechanics that aren't explained anywhere so you don't know they even exist?

EU2 is better than vanilla EU3, but EU3 Chronicles (with all 4 expansions) is perhaps Paradox' finest effort next to CK2. Even EU3 complete (with the first two expansions) is better than EU2 already. However the changes brought by the 3rd and 4th expansion are worth the cost: new map, dynastical system, different war aims and cassus bellis, a non-retarded westernizing system, much needed changes to combat balance, etc.

Seriously, I played EU3 1.0 back in January 2007 and it's amazing how far the game has gone from its beginnings. ¿Remember when you could adopt Adam Smith's Economics in 1453 and then be able to colonize America with Switzerland in 1460 without even having a port?

Not an awesome mod mechanic, it`s what you would need to emulate the conquistadors.
You would never be able to do it cortes-style without many natives groups on your side.

Civ V is better in all aspects (if you have the DLCs), except that the modding community is much less active. That sucks about the AoE3...

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting DW on Steam to see if it makes a difference. All hope may not be lost for our MP ambitions.

If it's with MEIOU, then why not?

MEIOU is cumbersome to use and runs slow on many computers.

It also will be hard for us all to have the same Check-sum.

I am also annoyed by how many provinces it has.

Try the lowest settings then, also to get the same checksum, create a new folder, put in the MEIOU mod, then all the hotfixes. Same checksum.

I love the number of provinces available, it seems more realistic for some reason. It also looks better, as it prevents big blobs from forming so easily.

Annoyed by amount of provinces? I think it has far too few. If the game's engine allowed it without slowing it down to 1 day per minute, I'd mod in enough provinces to make any historical border possible, including all of the tiny thingies in the HRE, as well as singular towns that where once independent, like Cospaia. Of course, that's impossible, but still.

Anyway, if I get DW on Steam before you lot start, I vote Miscmods.

EDIT: All systems go! I can finally do EU3 multiplayer. I'll be joining in the next mp game ya'll do.

I can't do mods because I'm on a Mac so I'd love to do it on regular DW.

The Borders of the Baltic States are how they were OTL, but they make single provinces criss-cross and overlap each other.

What? Files on a Mac are the same as on a PC. Mods are perfectly usable as long as they're not prepackaged EXE installers.

So I have Iberia modded in my EUIII to look like this:

And I decided to run a game through with Galicia, and here I am at the death of the first King, circa 1410(?)

I conquered Granada! But Portugal got Andalucia. -_-

Im also allied with Aragon. And surprisingly, poor Castille has been involved in many wars but has won nothing.

GOOD.
