1954- French fight on after Dien Bien Phu

Is there any way that France could've fought on in Indochina after the shocking defeat at Dien Bien Phu in May 1954 ? There were still substantial French fighting formations in the field despite the loss of the Dien Bien Phu garrison, so could there somehow have been any sorta political will in Paris to continue fighting for the colonies in SE Asia ? What would've been the impact on US foreign policy in Asia of a continued French war against the Viet Minh
