Ethics in America (PBS Series- Free to download!)

http://www.learner.org/resources/series81.html

A couple of months ago this series was on my local PBS station and I just found out that you can watch all the episodes for free as streaming WMVs (you have to sign up but it is free).

Each episode is a role-playing debate on various ethics topics- a scandal in the White House, a murder trial, a war, etc. where a moderator asks some of the top notables of the late 1980s when the show was produced.

It's not always AH, but it certainly crosses that line multiple times and you get to see people who would be involved in the scenario tell you how they would act.

Some of the people in the program-

C. Everett Coop
Antonin Scalia
Rep. Newt Gingrich*
Rep. Barney Frank
Sen. Alan Simpson
Rudolph Giuliani*
Jeff Greenfield*
Jeanne Kirkpatrick
Peter Jennings
Mike Wallace
Geraldine Ferarro

*Before they were national media figures.

Also taking part are generals, civil liberty union directors, professors, etc. The discussions are wonderfully informal and often funny, always really illuminating, both in the issues they discuss and because of who they have discussing them.

If you want to know how some of the top people in Washington and the Media would have acted if WWIII had broken out in the late 1980s or how President Jeanne Kirkpatrick ( ) would have dealt with a scandal in her White House, this is the program to see!
