WI Yoni Netanyahu not killed at Entebbe ?

The only Israeli commando casualty during the otherwise spectactularly successful Op JONATHAN/THUNDERBOLT in July 1976 was Lt-Col Yonatan 'Yoni' Netanyahu, the groundforce assault commander, who was killed by Ugandan fire during the battle to secure the Entebbe airport terminal building. As is widely known, his younger brother Benjamin 'Bibi' Netanyahu became Israel's right-wing PM during the mid-90s.

WI Yoni hadn't been KIA at Entebbe ? What military and political roles could he potentially have played in Israeli affairs during the late 70s and into the 80s ? With his outstanding military credentials, could his family have become an Israeli version of the Kennedy dynasty ?

Maybe Benjamin would not have been so right wing if he hadn't lost a brother in action ?

Yoni

Israel would have a prime minister with balls as we say in Holland and one who would not let the arabs overrun the country. (IMHO of course) :)

Not necessary. Military credentials don't directly translate into political capital. See Barak for example.
