Chivalry

What would have to happen to make Chivalry into a deeply respected and honored code like that of the Samuri? Just wondering....How would it shape Europe and its expansion through out the world, since most of the Knights in Shining armor were nobles.

Well, as far as I know, the "samurai code" was really an invention of later romantics- the actual fighting samurai of the warring states period were just about as brutal and pragmatic as any feudal soldiers.

Yes, in fact the role of the samurai as the only warrior class in Japan developed after Hideyoshi's "sword hunt" which saw the disarmament of the peasantry and the real end of the era of civil wars.

It's still a valid question though: WI there was a 'higher standard' that all Europeans believed in? Would it be something dictated by the RCC? In opposition to it? My first impression is that it'd either foster more cultural unity, assuming that the strongest powers adhere to the 'code'.
