the JFK coup

2 weeks after the JFK assasination a clique of army officers , ,headed by a much respected figurehead general with a previously impeccable record seizes control of broadcast facilities in LA and half a dozen other major cities .
He is initially supported by a relatively small number of divisions , say 3-5 , but these are particularly useful and well trained units including armour and
air-mobile forces . The rebel general then starts broadcasting film and witness interview as well as circumstancial evidence to support his claims that the JFK assasination was sanctioned by elements of the US government and military and goes on to name LBJ and J Edgar Hoover as the Primary conspiritors , also naming prominent military , industrial and LCN figures as being involved . The evidence he broadcasts, whilst not watertight is enough to raise serious doubts in the minds of most ordinary citizens about the official line that Kennedy was killed by a lone gunman . The rebels are quickly surrounded by LBJ loyal army units , but have dug in heavily in well defended positions with many supplies . LBJ upon hearing of the broadcasts orders a nationalal 48 hour curfew to be put into effect , but the next day upwards of three million people including many students and blacks take to the streets in
defiance of this ban in most major cities across the USA . The police , national guard and army are ordered in to break up the (largely peaceful ) demonstrations . Street battles errupt in most major cities , with the police and army responding to stone throwing and petrol bombs with live rounds and mortars . Over six thousand people ( almost all protestors ) die . The rebels have managed to film several of the riots , and broadcast the footage they have obtained in largely uneditted form including graphic images of unarmed civilians being shot dead . World opinion is outraged by the scale of the loss of life , with Russia and its allies leading the condemnation , but also many of
Americas NATo allies giving guarded condemnations of the level of force being used . Worldwide protests against the actions of the American Police , army and government errupt , bringing millions more on the streets of Europe , Russia and Asia . Determined to end the situation , LBJ orders his forces to storm the rebel held Comm facilities at all costs . Several of the smaller
facilities are taken at great loss of life , but the majority of the attacks are repulsed . Several of the attacking units refuse to open fire on fellow soldiers , whilst several more apparantly defect to the rebel cause . The attack on the primary broadcast center in LA fails when airforce units ordered to attack the rebels refuse to attack in support of ground troops , with several dozen landing and allying themselves with the rebels . Anarchy sweeps theough the USA with widespread rioting and spontanious firefights between rebel units , government loyal forces and militias errupting in the major cities . Public support for the rebels is stong in California , the big cities and several of the New England states, whilst many mid-western states , Texas ands Florida remain firmly behind LBJ . Chaos soon speads to US forces in W . Germany , Japan and Europe . Some fighting breaks out between pro-rebel and pro-government units , whilst large numbers of soldiers go AWOL . The US ambassadors to the UK , Italy and several other countries request political asylum , and made broadcasts in their host countries appealing for LBJ to resign and largely endorsing the rebels . LBJ publically states that he will never resign . Fearing growing support for the rebels from within his own party and the military LBJ orders that around eighty senators , congressmen and senior military and government figurs be placed in protective custody .
However this move backfires badly , with only about twenty five of the target list being successfully arrested . The rest flee to rebel held area's , go in to hiding or try to get to Canada or Europe to rally support against the govenment . Amongst their number is attourney genral Robert Kennedy who endorses the theory that LBJ and especially Hoover were behind the
assasination . Several of the military figures take substancial number of troops
with them when they declare for the rebels . Soon after this , word reaches both LBJ and the Rebels that a large fleet containing three carriers equipped with nuclear bombs as well as numerous other ships , and a large number of troops and marines has sailed from Japan and is heading towards the rebel stronghold of California . It is refusing to respond to all radio messages and
LBJ believes the admiral leading the fleet to have rebel sympathies . What happens next in this senario ? Does LBJ order his naval and air forces to attack the supposedly rebel fleet before it comes within range to stike at government held cities ? Does the Navy and USAF obey these orders ? With US forces in the far east and europe in chaos , what does the USSR do ? Sit it out , or try to take W .Germany and Japan by force or stealth ? How does the president try and stop the rebels ? Retreat and regroup in largely loyal area's , before attacking , or try and keep the rebels bottled up and pray that the encircling troops don't defect , or let the rebels manage to escape ?
What happens to the remaining US troops aboad , esp in Vietnam , Japan and Asia in general ? Do they stay put or try to return home , and what is the knock on stategic effect of this ? Would , say Japan be forced to re-arm to protect itself against Russian or Chinese threats

This doesn't make any sense. Why does a coup occur???? And, even if it were rooted in a tiny bit of fact, which it's not, why does it occur in liberal California as opposed to the Deep South, which is most opposed to Kennedy and LBJ?
