How would the VW and other US military involvements from the 60s onwards have turned out differently had JFK not emphasised the need for special ops units such as the Green Berets and Navy SEALs ? Would the US have been even less prepared for low-intensity counter-guerilla conflict in places like VN, and would US military commanders have had an even greater learning curve in reapplying the lessons of special operations from WWII ?
